Windswept Acres started in September of 2000 when an orphaned lamb, named Little Girl, was brought into our kitchen and became part of our family. When this lamb grew up and had lambs of her own, these sheep turned into my 4-H project. Through the 4-H project I was able to learn the ins and outs of raising sheep and this only lead to wanting more sheep. In 2005 2 registered romney ewe lambs joined the flock and since then romneys have come to be the main breed of our flock. We have approximately 20 romney ewes and another 10 dorset/dorset cross ewes. Recently we have been using the genetics of coat color to breed for specific patterns that will have consistent fleece shades. We currently lend some of our ewes to local 4-Hers that wish to learn more about what it takes to raise and work with sheep.
