FAQ

Who can attend?
The Barn Crawl is open to the public. We welcome all makers, knitters, crocheters, foragers, weavers, fellow fiber producers, and the farm- and fiber-curious. NJ Fibershed is committed to providing a climate of purposeful inclusion of safety and welcome to all historically marginalized peoples. We value the diversity of racial and cultural identity, sexual and affectional orientation, gender identity and its expression, religious background and belief, age, mental and physical health and ability, and educational and socioeconomic status.

What should I wear?
Keep in mind that spring in New Jersey is mud season on our farms so wear clothing you wouldn’t mind getting dirty. While our participating farms will do their best to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for all visitors, we recommend closed-toe, farm-appropriate footwear. All participants will be required to wear plastic booties over their shoes to protect our flocks.

What will we see and do?
Each participating farm will be offering farm tours, and members of local fiber arts guilds will be doing demonstrations of weaving, spinning, and fiber processing. Farms will selling fiber products from their own farm, and may be hosting local vendors. Expect to see products such as roving, yarn, hides, dye plants, honey, and more. Check with each farm to see what they’re offering during the Crawl.

What is the cost of attending and when do I need to buy a ticket?
In 2025, the Barn Crawl is free, with no admissions fee.

Is there a rideshare available?
If you are interested in ride sharing, join the NJ Fibershed Discord and check out the Barn Crawl conversation!

Can I bring my pet?
NO. Dogs will scare sheep and other farm animals and make our farmers skittish. Pets also pose a biosecurity risk since they cannot wear the little plastic booties needed to visit each farm.
