Signups are open for NJ Fibershed’s Harvest Initiative, a new project offering fiber artists a space to connect with the land, to experience their craft from seed to textile. The goal of NJ Fibershed Harvest is to engage with local makers to nurture a diverse and equitable community of crafters interested in sustainable textile arts. Participants will come together to cultivate gardens of natural dye plants and plant fibers such as flax, ramie, and cotton. Educational programming throughout the growing season will include workshops on plant care, natural dyeing, and the processing of plant fibers.
For the spring of 2025, there will be 2 garden locations: on the campus of TCNJ in Ewing Township, and in Alexandria. Participation is open to all NJ Fibershed members. Click HERE to sign up and for more information.
NJ Fibershed is a volunteer-run New Jersey 501(c)(3) educational organization, working to create a network among fiber artisans and fiber farmers in the state of New Jersey. Our goal is to promote face-to-face relationships between fiber animals, farmers, and local fiber artists within our community. We provide educational programs focused on small-scale fiber farming and sustainable fiber crafting. NJ Fibershed is a registered affiliate of Fibershed.org, an international grass-roots organization based in Northern California, working on developing regional fiber systems.
