SUMMARY:Barn Crawl 2024 - April 28
DESCRIPTION:Join NJ Fibershed for a weekend of fiber immersion located at farms throughout New Jersey on April 27 & 28 from 10AM – 4PM each day! This year 2 South & 2 North NJ Host Farms are participating. \nCome to meet the livestock\, buy some home grown fiber and locally made products!  Meet farmers\, ranchers\, designers\, sewers\, weavers\, knitters\, felters\, spinners\, and natural dyers living and working within New Jersey and neighboring regions. And if that wasn’t enough\, there will be a drawing for NJ Fibershed swag at the end of the Barn Crawl event!  Share your finds with #NJBarnCrawl24. \nWe’ll be doing a NJ Fibershed Fiber-Along again this year.  Fiber-Along 2024 is a free\, open community of makers using items purchased at the Barn Crawl.  Anyone who attends this year’s Barn Crawl can participate.  It’s a chance to share what you’re making due to attending the Barn Crawl with fellow “Crawlers” as well as the makers who produced or influenced what you’re using/ making.  There will be monthly Zoom meetings to share progress on projects\, with a final in person meet up at the October Fleece and Fall Fiber Sale.  Signup info will be provided at each Barn Crawl host farm and please share your project on Social Media using #njfal2024. \nEntry Donation is $5  per person\, good for both days.   As an entirely volunteer run non-profit organization\, we must raise the funds to cover the expenses of everything we do: events\, workshops\, and training sessions.  Your Barn Crawl entrance donations will be used to cover expenses for biosecurity materials for our animals and portable restrooms for farm guests. \nDonations in advance are preferred so farms don’t have to handle cash\, but each farm will provide a QR Code/ url to make a donation via our website for drop-in visitors.\n \nJoin the Fiber Quest!  Make your online entry donation and you’ll receive a Fiber Quest map for this year’s Barn Crawl via email on April 26.   Donations for Barn Crawl 2024 can be made now!  \n  \nFor more info\, see our Barn Crawl 2024 page. \nMeet our Host Farms:\n \n\nJenny Jump Farm – Belvidere\,  Warren County\nSmiling Dog Farm – Lumberton\, Burlington County\nWindswept Acres Farm – Pittstown\, Hunterdon County\nWindy Farm Alpacas – Chesterfield\, Burlington County\n\n \n Meet our Artisans & Vendors \nInfo is up to date as of Feb. 14\, 2024 and subject to change. \n__________________________ \nWould you like to vend?  We’d love your help showcasing local fiber farms and products! \nVending Info \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook

She is honored to be the steward of a small piece of land in Baltimore County\, where she has planted many of the native trees\, shrubs\, and herbaceous plants she remembers from her childhood\, as well as many old-fashioned garden favorites. She approaches natural dyeing and eco printing with enthusiasm and sense of exploration. This willingness to follow the question\, “what if …” has led to many happy discoveries about the colors present in the plants found in our gardens and wild spaces. Pamela is happiest in the garden planting\, tending\, or harvesting; in the studio making prints\, creating books or playing with fibers; or when sharing her love of these activities with others. \n  \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook

SUMMARY:Introduction to Freeform Tapestry Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Freeform Tapestry Weaving\, an Outdoor Weaving Workshop at Raritan Headwaters \nby Anne Choi of Middle Brook Fiberworks \nFreeform tapestry weaving is an expressive\, process-oriented way to explore traditional handweaving techniques to create a piece that is personal and unique. A standing tabletop loom enables us to incorporate a wealth of textures such as fluffy roving\, long fleece locks\, silk ribbon\, cotton punis\, and handspun art yarn. We’ll learn how to set up the loom and plan a design. Using various weave structures and knotting methods\, we’ll discover how to achieve geometric shapes and contours. At the end of class\, everyone will have completed their own sampler tapestry to take home.  All equipment\, tools\, and materials will be provided\, and participants are invited to bring any special fibers or yarn they would like to include in their works. \nThe class will be given at Raritan Headwaters\, 2121 Larger Cross Road\, Gladstone\, NJ 07934\non 4/02/22 from 10 AM – 1:30-PM (Rain date: April 9)\nSignup/ More Info: https://www.raritanheadwaters.org/event/introduction-to-freeform-tapestry-weaving/ \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook
